This course views said influence through the historical currents and xpansion of European culture. In addition, we will study the syntactic and structural differences between French, neighboring European languages, and Korean, focusing on the usage-rate of French in the world. 프랑스의 지식인들이 상아탑에 안주하기 이전에 많은 문학가들은 작가인 동시에 음악이나 미술, 건축과 같은 분야의 비평가였고 심지어는 철학가이기도 했다. 이처럼 프랑스 문학은 예술의 전반적인 흐름과 분리해서 이해할 수 없는데, 우리는 중세부터 현대에 이르는 프랑스 문학 작품과 예술 작품을 당대의 사상사적 맥락에서 체계적으로 분석하고 그것을 우리 시대의 관점에서 재구성함으로써 프랑스 문학과 예술의 전반적인 흐름을 이해하고자 한다. Before the early French intellectuals sought comfort in their ivory towers, many were critics of music, art, and architecture, and many more were writers and philosophers. Thus, understanding French literature is inseparable from understanding the currents in the arts. In this course, we will systematically analyze, from historical as well as contemporary perspectives, French literary and art works beginning with the Middle Ages and continuing to today. This tour will offer a better understanding of the general currents flowing in French literature and arts.

The study materials are texts which discuss the current issues found in French society. This enables students to reach a higher level of conversation as well as get a wider appreciation of French culture and society.

프랑스어는 단지 프랑스의 문학, 문화, 사상을 이해하기 위한 통로만이 아니다. 오늘날 벨기에 등 유럽 지역, 퀘벡을 비롯한 북미 지역, 카리브해 지역, 그리고 특히 아프리카에는 프랑스 국민보다도 더 많은 수의 사람들이 프랑스어로 말하고, 프랑스어로 쓰인 글을 읽고 있다. 이처럼 프랑스어는 세계의 거의 모든 지역의 다양한 문화에 접근할 수 있는 가능성을 제공한다. <프랑스어권 문학강독>은 두 개의 상이한 목표를 갖는다. 첫째 목표는 상대적으로 평이한 프랑스어로 쓰인 텍스트들의 꼼꼼한 독서를 통해 프랑스어 텍스트의 독해 능력을 기르는 것이다. 두 번째 목표는 프랑스어권 문학이라는 제목과 관계가 깊다. 20세기 이후 유럽 및 프랑스의 식민지라는 아픈 과거 경험을 아프리카 및 카리브해 지역의 작가들이 문학을 통해 어떻게 극복했으며, 또한 해방 후 포스트식민주의 상황에서 그들이 어떻게 문화적, 민족적 정체성을 찾아가는지 따라가 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이처럼 각 지역의 역사적 상황과 밀접하게 연결되어 있는 문학 텍스트를 읽으면서 우리는 문학과 사회, 문학과 문화정체성, 억압 상황과 문학 등의 관계 등에 대해 개관하며, 포스트식민주의의 기초 개념과도 만날 수 있을 것이다. French language is not merely a means of understanding the literature, culture and thoughts of France. French language is used in some european regions such as Belgium, Quebec and the northern America, the Caribbean and particularly in the Africa, where more people than the population of France speak and read French. ‘Readings in Francophone Literature’ is an introduction to Francophone literature through selective readings of literary works in relatively plain French, Students will enhance their reading skills of French and understand how the authors of Africa and the Caribbean have overcome their colonial experience and sought their cultural identity in the postcolonial situation. Reading literary texts closely linked to historical situation of the region, students will understand how literature is related to the society, cultural identity and political oppression and also be introduced to basic notions of the postcolonialism.

We will read the main dramatic works of France, beginning with 17th-century works of the classical period and ending with modern works The course will introduce students to the generic characteristics of drama and enable students to improve their French comprehension skills, especially comprehension of French dialogue.

Diachronically, we will study the phonological, syntactic, morphologic, lexical changes in French from the Middle Ages to today, and synchronically, the characteristics of phonetics, the structure of the signs making up words, meaning, the value structure of grammar, and the relation between value structure and sign structure. Through this we aim at understanding the identity and originality of the French language. And we will study the overall structure and characteristics of French in a synchronic perspective, and mainly study such problems as the complementary relations between pronunciation and orthography, the interrelations of meaning and grammatical mechanisms, and the mutual tendencies of such diverse elements and the psychological structure of language.

<프랑스문학개론 1>은 중세에서 현대까지의 프랑스 문학을 대상으로 삼는다. 한편으로는 여러 문예사조를 중심으로 문학사적 접근의 중요성과 의의를 배우며, 다른 한편으로는 대표적인 텍스트들을 읽고 해석하면서 텍스트 설명이라는 정치한 해석 방식의 기초를 배운다. 이를 통해 학생들은 문학사의 흐름, 문학과 사회의 관계, 개별 텍스트에 대한 이해를 심화할 수 있을 것이다. 특히 <프랑스문학개론 1>에서는 프랑스어가 문학의 언어로 사용되기 시작한 중세 텍스트들에서 출발하여, 르네상스 및 16세기의 작품들, 바로크 문학, 고전극으로 대표되는 17세기의 고전주의 문학, 그리고 18세기 계몽주의 문학 텍스트들을 다룰 것이다. 몽테뉴, 라블레, 라신, 코르네유, 볼테르, 루소처럼 프랑스 문화와 사상의 꽃을 피운 대가들의 작품을 통하여 우리는 전통 프랑스 문화의 핵심을 맛볼 수 있을 것이다. A survey of french literature from the Middle ages to the modern era. This course is designed to introduce students to french literary history through various literary trends. Students will learn some basic interpretation methods such as ‘explication de texte’ through a close reading of french literary masterpieces. In this course ‘Introduction to French Literature 1’, literary texts of the Middle ages in which the french language has begun to be used as literary language, masterpieces of the Renaissance era and the 16th century, the Baroque literature, classical literature of the 17th century including the classical French drama and literary works of the Enlightenment and the 18th century will be discussed. Students will be introduced to the essence of the cultural tradition of France by some major authors such as Montaigne, Rabelais, Racine, Corneille, Voltaire and Rousseau.

<프랑스문학개론 2> 강좌를 통하여 개괄적으로 파악한 것을 바탕으로 하여, 19세기의 사실주의와 자연주의를 보다 깊이 있게 고찰하는 것을 목표로 한다. ‘적과 흑’의 작가, 스탕달, 메리메, ‘인간희극’의 발자크 등 19세기 들어 꽃피기 시작한 소설이라는 장르가 갖는 문학사적 의의를 고찰하고 플로베르에게 이르러 사실주의가 어떠한 결실을 맺게 되는가를 살피고, 뒤이어 공꾸르 형제 및 졸라의 자연주의로 이행되는 과정을 그들의 작품을 통하여 고찰한다. Built on the foundations of <Introduction to French Literature>, this course aims at a deeper study of 19th century Realism and Naturalism. We will inquire into the historical significance of the novel, which flourished in the 19th century through the works of such writers as Stendhal [Le Rouge et Le Noir], Marimee, and Balzac [La Comedie humaine]. Next the course will focus on their influences over the Realist writers like Flaubert. The class will then lead up to the progression from Realism to Naturalism as evidenced in the work of the Goncourt brothers and Zola.

본 과목은 1차대전 직전부터 전개된 다양한 소설적 시도들을 중심으로 현대 프랑스문학의 여러 면모를 이해하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 아나똘 프랑스, 부르제, 바레스 및 로멩 롤랑, 끌로델 등의 작품에 대한 이해에서 출발하여, 프루스트와 지드의 새로운 소설과 말로, 생-텍쥐페리의 행동문학, 모리악, 베르나노스, 그린의 기독교 문학, 까뮈, 사르트르의 실존주의 소설 및 누보 로망을 고찰한다. This course seeks to understand the various characteristics of modern French literature through a critical study of post-World War I novels. We will start with the works of Anatole France, Bourget, Barres, Romain Roland, and Claudel, proceeding, then to the new novels of Proust and Gide. Also examined will be the Literature of engagement of Malraux and Saint-Exupery, the Christian literature of Mauriac, Bernanos, Green, the Existentialist novels of Camus and Sartre, as well as the Nouveau Roman.

This course is designed for students with a prior knowledge of French culture. The primary objective of this course is to gain an in-depth understanding of the main social issues of contemporary French society. Students will be introduced to contemporary French cultural theories, and will learn to analyze the given thematics from various perspectives by utilizing diverse media such as newspapers articles, TV programs, and literary works. Students should gain an analytic and balanced view of French culture after taking this course.

This course covers various literary criticism of 20th century, the ‘era of criticism.’ Students will be able to understand important currents in the intellectual history of France while acquiring methods of analyzing literary works with their own critical view. Aiming at the students who have prerequisite knowledge of French, French literature and culture, this course examines French arts including fine arts and cinemas in relation to French literature itself. 이 과목은 언어학 일반에 관심이 있고 프랑스어학을 전공하고자 하는 학생들을 대상으로 개별언어로서의 프랑스어를 더욱 심도 깊게 연구하기 위해, 일반 언어학에 대한 기본 이론과 음성학, 음운론, 형태론, 통사론, 의미론, 화용론 등 언어학의 제분야를 소개하고, 구체적으로 각 언어별 특징을 비교하고 이를 프랑스어학에 적용시켜 보는 것을 목표로 한다. This course is designed for students interested in the French language and students interested in majoring in French linguistics. The course will introduce students to general linguistics and the diverse fields of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.
We will apply these linguistic models to French and study the structure of the French language.

<현대프랑스언어학>에서는 주로 언어 일반에 관한 이론의 소개에 중점을 두었다면, <프랑스언어학특강>에서는 이러한 기본 지식을 바탕으로 구체적으로 프랑스어의 역사와 각 연구 영역별 특징들, 또한 생성 문법 등 최근 이론들을 소개하고 학습하는 것을 목표로 한다. If ‘Contemporary French Linguistics’ was mainly focused on the general introduction to the French language, ‘Topics in French Linguistics’ will, on the basis of the basic knowledge thus achieved, specifically study the history of French, the characteristics of each field of study, and introduce the current theories, such as Generative Grammar.

본 강의는 현대 프랑스 사회의 주요 문화현상 및 문화이론에 대한 심도 있는 이해를 목표로 하는 강의로서 프랑스 사회와 문화 전반에 대해 이미 기초적인 지식을 갖고 있는 학생들을 대상으로 한다. 인문학의 다양한 영역에 걸쳐 전개되고 있는 프랑스 문화연구의 최근 동향을 접하게 함으로써 프랑스를 위시한 유럽의 문화현상, 그리고 한발 더 나아가 한국의 문화현상을 바라보는 학생들의 시각을 보다 예리하게 만드는 것이 본 강의가 기대하는 바이다. 최근의 다양한 문화현상과 이론을 다루는 강의성격 상 그 구체적인 내용면에서 다소 변화가 있을 수는 있으나, 본 강의에서 지속적으로 주안점을 두고자 하는 네 가지 주제는 각각 1) 문화적 실천의 사회적 위계 문제, 2) 문화적 생산물의 수용방식, 3) 문화적 생산에 대한 사회제도의 영향 4) 예술가와 사회다. 본 강의에서는 문학, 영화 및 일상생활문화에서 나타나는 문화현상들을 분석대상으로 삼되 이와 관련하여 피에르 부르디외, 베아트리스 르 비타, 스테판 보, 미셀 세르토, 필립 푸아리에 등이 제시하고 있는 문화이론들을 집중적으로 살펴볼 것이다. This course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the principal cultural phenomena and cultural theory of contemporary French society to the students who already have a foundation knowledge of French society and culture. Through introducing current trends of cultural studies in France, this course will furnish students with an acute perspective not only on cultural phenomena of France and Europe, but also on those of Korea as well. Covering both various cultural phenomena and cultural theory, details treated in the course may vary, however followings are the key aspects that we will be focusing on along the semester :
1) social hierachy of cultural practices, 2) divers usage and reception of cultural products, 3) effects of institutions on the cultural productions, 4) artist and society.
We will be mainly focusing on cultural phenomena reflected in literature, cinema and our daily lives, hence works of Pierre Bourdieu, Beatrix Le Wita, Stephane Beaud, Michel Certeau, Philippe Poirrier will be analysed with an emphasis.

이 교과목은 프랑스문학을 전공하는 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 다양한 프랑스문학 작품들에서 발췌한 중요한 대목을 함께 읽으면서, 학생들이 세기별로 진행될 프랑스문학 전공 수업을 듣기에 앞서 프랑스어로 된 문학텍스트를 보다 폭넓게 접할 수 있도록 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 개별 텍스트가 담고 있는 사회문화적 맥락 및 문학적 감수성과 형식, 주제를 파악하는 방법을 배우는 동시에, 향후 프랑스어 텍스트를 중심을 이루어질 전공심화수업이 요구하는 프랑스어 독해 능력 및 문학텍스트의 실질적인 분석 능력을 함양하도록 하는 데에서 본 수업이 지닌 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 프랑스문학 전공자들이 듣게 되는 첫 번째 강독 수업인 만큼 난이도가 그리 높지 않은 문학텍스트를 선별해 수업을 진행하고자 한다. This course is aimed at second-year students majoring in French literature, and designed to read important passages extracted from various French literature works. Further, it is to provide students with a broader experience of French literature texts prior to taking intensive major classes in French literature. Through this class, students will learn how to grasp the socio-cultural context of individual texts, literary sensibilities, forms, and subjects, while cultivating French reading ability and practical analysis skills of literary texts required by intensive major classes in upper grades. Since this is the first reading class for French literature majors, we want to select literary texts that are not very difficult.

본 과목의 목적은 19세기 프랑스시의 2대 주류인 낭만주의와 상징주의부터 20세기의 초현실주의를 거쳐 그 이후에 현대시까지 프랑스 시의 주요한 흐름을 살펴보고 그 배경이 되는 정신세계를 이해하는 데 있다. 19세기 시와 현대시의 비교를 통해 근현대 프랑스 시의 특징과 변화를 포괄적으로 바라볼 수 있게 될 것이다. 위고, 보들레르, 랭보, 브르똥, 아뽈리네르 등 프랑스 주요 시인들의 작품을 원문으로 읽는다. The purpose of this course is to examine the main trends of French poetry from 19th century Romanticism and Symbolism, through surrealism in the 20th century, to contemporary poetry, and to understand the spiritual culture behind them. Through the comparison of 19th century poetry and mainly 20th century poetry, it will be possible to look comprehensively at the characteristics and changes of modern French poetry. Students will read the works of major French poets such as Hugo, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Breton, and Apollinaire in the original text.

11세기부터 15세기 말까지의 중세불문학 작품을 선별하여 다룬다. 무훈시와 트루바두르의 시가, 소설, 연극 등 다양한 장르의 작품을 통해 중세불문학의 문학사적 의의 및 특성, 변화양상을 포괄적으로 이해하는 것을 목표로 한다. 텍스트는 중세프랑스어와 현대프랑스어 대역본을 사용한다. In this course, students will read selected works of medieval French literature from the 11th century to the end of the 15th century. It aims to understand comprehensively the historical significance, the characteristics, and the transitions of medieval French literature through works of various genres such as epic poems, troubadour songs, novels, and drama. We will use texts in both medieval and modern French versions.
